In this 11-part series, Marine Corps Staff Sergeant Frank Cius shares his remarkable story of survival, spending more that five and a half years as a prisoner of war in North Vietnam.
In Part 3, Frank describes being wounded after his helicopter was shot down into a VC camp, then escaping with Dexter, a Green Beret, into the jungle while enemy fire continued and rescue efforts unfolded around them. By daylight, other helicopters extracted the remaining team, but Frank and Dexter were left waiting with no immediate rescue returning.
