STARS, STRIPES & SERVICE:

Celebrating 250 Years of American Freedom

This July, our nation marks 250 years since its founding – a milestone measured not in monuments, but in the lives of those who defended it. Every artifact, photograph, letter, and firsthand account in our collection carries a piece of that 250-year story, educating and inspiring generations who never lived it firsthand. At the Veterans Museum, we are honored to serve as caretakers of these legacies, ensuring that as America turns 250, the voices who shaped that history are never lost to it. Freedom isn’t an idea we inherited – it’s a debt we owe to those who served, and we are proud to help our nation remember that.

BOOK A VIRTUAL INTERVIEW…

Share your story of service
to leave a lasting legacy!

Your story matters. Whether you served at home or abroad, during times of peace or conflict, your experience is a vital part of America’s history. When you share your story, you preserve your legacy – not just for your family and community, but for future generations who need to understand the real meaning of service.

NEW PROMOTIONAL VIDEO

This month, we’re featuring a short video that tells the story behind the Veterans Museum itself, from a WWII journal uncovered after Hurricane Irma to the hundreds of veteran interviews we’ve collected in our library of stories. Since our official launch on June 6, 2024 – the 80th Anniversary of D-Day – we have recorded hundreds of interviews, providing copies to veterans and their families while permanently archiving the recordings with the Library of Congress. Highlights from interviews are shown on interactive kiosks placed in public locations like veterans’ nursing homes, libraries, universities, city halls, and the Florida State Capitol.

Watch as Veterans share why telling their stories matters, and learn how you can help us capture even more before they’re lost.
