Part of the mission of The Vets Museum is to maximize veteran and public awareness of where and how to both visit and support these important resources. These resources include just some of the vast number of benefits and services available to U.S. veterans, depending on specific needs (employment, healthcare, mental health support). Many of these sites offer databases that are searchable based on location, type of benefit, or need.

City of Jacksonville Military Affairs and Veterans Department

City of Jacksonville Military Affairs and Veterans Department We have an amazing and talented team of professionals who are dedicated to providing you with timely and competent services and answers to your questions. We are an advocate for the expansion of military Infrastructure, personnel, and jobs within the City of Jacksonville and throughout Northeast Florida. The Department team works closely with military, business, community, and elected leaders at the local, state, and national levels to deliver a compelling message that Jacksonville is the most “Military and Veteran Friendly City in the United States” and that Jacksonville is strategically important to the security posture of the nation.

First Coast Honor Flight, Inc.

First Coast Honor Flight is dedicated to serving Northeast Florida Veterans as part of the nationwide Honor Flight Network. The mission of Honor Flight is to transport elderly and ill Veterans to Washington, D.C., at no expense to them, to visit the monuments and memorials which honor their service and sacrifice, and enjoy once more the camaraderie of fellow Veterans. First Coast Honor Flight is a 501(c)3 nonprofit.

Florida Department of Veterans Affairs

The Florida Department of Veterans Affairs Honoring Those Who Served U.S. With more than 1.4 million veterans, Florida is the most veteran-friendly state in the nation. The Florida Department of Veterans Affairs is the premier point of entry for Florida veterans to access earned services, benefits, and support. Thank you for your service. We honor you.

Five Star Veteran Center

Five Star Veteran Center is a nonprofit founded in March 2012 to assist veterans in need. The organization has a specific focus on veterans aged 22 – 55 suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Traumatic Brain Injuries, Depression, Anxiety, and other related mental health issues. The common goal for each veteran is re-integration into society.

K9s for Warriors

K9s for Warriors is dedicated to providing service canines to our Warriors suffering from Post-traumatic Stress Disorder, Traumatic Brain Injury, and/or Military Sexual Trauma as a result of military service post-9/11. Their goal is to empower them to return to civilian life with dignity and independence. They are the nation’s largest provider of service dogs for disabled American veterans.

National Resource Directory (NRD)

A comprehensive resource that connects veterans, service members, and their families to thousands of services and benefits, ranging from health care and counseling to financial assistance and legal services. It provides a searchable database of organizations, resources, and services at the federal, state, and local levels.

National Veterans Foundation (NVF)

NVF offers a variety of services, including case management, referral programs, and a 24-hour helpline for veterans in need.

Northeast Florida Women Veterans

Northeast Florida Women Veterans

Northeast Florida Women Veterans is focused on ensuring women who have served on active duty – National Guard or Reserves, and their children – transition into the civilian community with the tools they need to become self-sufficient. We operate a resource center to provide supportive and career services to women veterans and advocate for and promote community awareness of their challenges and accomplishments at the local, state and national level ensuring each has a voice.

Operation New Uniform

Operation New Uniform is a nonprofit organization, headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida, committed to the professional success of veterans after service.

The American Legion

The American Legion is a prominent organization that provides assistance to veterans, including programs for financial aid, health benefits, and scholarships. They also have a service locator to find nearby posts that offer direct support.

VA Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA) Resources

This site provides detailed information on a range of benefits available to veterans, such as compensation, pension, vocational rehabilitation, and life insurance.

Veterans Crisis Line

For immediate mental health support or if a veteran is in crisis, this is an essential resource offering confidential help 24/7 via text, chat, or phone.

Veterans Education Success

This site provides a directory of various services specifically tailored to veterans, including information on disability benefits, education and training, employment, and career counseling.

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA)

The VA offers a wealth of resources for veterans, including healthcare services, benefits, mental health resources, and housing assistance. You can find specific tools for applying for benefits and accessing services. The VA Resources section on their site provides links to all kinds of services and eligibility information, including direct access to health care and vocational resources.

The Library of Congress Veterans History Project

The Library of Congress Veterans History Project collects, preserves, and makes accessible the firsthand recollections of U.S. military veterans who served in World War I through more recent conflicts and peacekeeping missions, so that future generations may hear directly from veterans and better understand what they saw, did and felt during their service. 

The Mission Continues

The Mission Continues is a national, nonpartisan nonprofit that empowers veterans to continue their service and empowers communities with veteran talent, skills, and preparedness to generate visible impact. Veterans possess the drive and desire to serve others, but without access to the tools needed, their potential to make meaningful impact at the local level remains untapped. On the other end of the spectrum growing numbers of communities in this country are under-resourced and being left behind. The mission of The Mission Continues is to connect veterans with under-resourced communities. This organization has programs in cities across the country that deploy veteran volunteers alongside nonprofit partners and community leaders to improve educational resources, increase access to parks and green spaces, foster neighborhood identity, and more. The organization’s vision is for all veterans with a desire to continue their service to be part of a movement to transform communities.

The Veterans Council of Duval County

The Veterans Council of Duval County exists to cooperate with local, state, and national social services and welfare agencies in programs relating to the welfare of veterans, military personnel, and their dependents. The purposes and functions of the Veterans Council of Duval County Florida include: ​​

  • To act as a liaison between veteran-serving organizations in the community and the City of Jacksonville’s Military Affairs and Veterans Department (MAVD)
  • To improve communication, coordination, and support between veteran-serving organizations and the MAVD on matters affecting Veterans
  • To aid and support the MAVD in the events, ceremonies, outreach activities, and Veterans-related social services efforts
  • To actively engage in providing support for area Veterans through events, fundraisers, and philanthropic efforts
  • To plan, coordinate, and assist the City or others in establishing any other programs that may be deemed advisable by the Council in serving the best interests of the Veterans and military community and their dependents.

Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW)

The VFW is another major veteran’s organization that offers support through advocacy, resources, and help navigating the VA system. They have local posts nationwide and provide numerous benefits.

VETS 4 VETS

A movement created in 2013 by the Semper Fidelis Society working towards uniting Veterans and Veteran Organizations in NE Florida. Its intent is to provide a forum where Veterans and their organizations can share agendas, and information, network among Veterans and Veteran Organizations, and introduce the Veterans community to prominent community leaders and organizations that assist and/or provide services to veterans and their families.

Vets 4 Vets is a way of addressing veterans’ concerns together, creating an environment of cooperation and coordination between Veterans Organizations, and bringing attention and support to establishing a solely for Veterans, run by Veterans and supported by the Veterans Community Veteran’s Resource Center/support facility in Jacksonville.

Wounded Warrior Project

Wounded Warrior Project is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization headquartered in Jacksonville with a mission to honor and empower wounded warriors who incur service-connected wounds, injuries, and illnesses (physical or physiological) on or after September 11, 2001.

Zahara Veterans Network, Inc.

Zahara Veterans Network, Inc. was established to serve the unique needs of Women Veterans and connect them to the resources needed to positively impact their families and communities.
