Veterans Museum Interview with Major James Capers, Jr., USMC (RET)

Wounded in Vietnam, Honored by a Nation | A Marine’s Medal of Honor Story

We recently had the privilege of interviewing Marine Corps Major (Ret.) James Capers Jr., who shared his extraordinary life story from his childhood in South Carolina to leading combat missions in Vietnam. In this powerful conversation, Major Capers reflects on leadership, bravery, resilience, and the faith that helped him overcome adversity through both service and personal loss. His experiences behind enemy lines and the lessons he shares offer a powerful look at courage, sacrifice, and hope. We also extend our sincere thanks to Eries Mentzer, USAF, COL (RET) (@Eriesmentzer), for introducing us and connecting us with Major Capers. Without her, we would not have had the honor of meeting and interviewing him.
